FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

HIP NEW COFFEE HOUSE: LATEST ADDITION TO UP-AND-COMING FOSTER-POWELL NEIGHBORHOOD

Grand Opening of a New Coffee House in the Southeast Features Free Coffee and a Cool Hangout

Portland, OR – The latest place to get your caffeine fix in Fo-Po (Foster-Powell) is catering to a new crowd of customers. Speedboat Coffee is a hip new coffee house that’s whipping up lattes for the neighborhood’s growing number of 20/30-something residents, and it will be celebrating its Grand Opening on Friday, May 9, 2008 by offering free coffee all day and other discounts throughout the week. Speedboat is located at 5115 SE Foster Road in Portland, near the intersection of Foster Road and Powell Boulevard.

“The new crowd of young residents and families in Foster-Powell is really changing the scene here,” says co-owner Angela Kelly. “Cute, trendy shops are popping up everywhere, and we’re very excited to be a part of the movement. You don’t have to drive 30 blocks to find a cool place to get a coffee and hang-out, anymore.”

Offering drive-thru and dine-in service, Speedboat appeals to coffee drinkers on their way to and from work, as well as customers looking to sit for awhile. The menu features an array of standard espresso-based coffee beverages such as lattes and cappuccinos, as well as whole-fruit smoothies, bakery items, hot soup, and specialty sandwiches.

“We’re bringing all the amenities that you’d expect from a downtown coffee house to the heart of Fo-Po,” says Kelly. These amenities include a kids’ playroom with toys and games, free wireless internet, outdoor patio seating, and a dining room with comfy chairs and the glow of a warm fireplace. The colors are rich, vibrant, and inviting, and the décor features a photo gallery of vintage speedboats & water skiers, as well as other vintage boat memorabilia. Just as importantly, Speedboat offers fast and very friendly service. “Speedboat is a perfect addition to the neighborhood. We live nearby and were always looking for a great local, kid-friendly coffee place, and now we can offer it to everyone.
